Child-Centered Learning
Gunduatid staff offer a secure nurturing setting and meet the children where they are. They are there to offer support as the children build themselves — with adult guidance, but not interference.
Gunduatid participants are given full autonomy to choose what they want to learn, how they want to learn it, and when. We find that this approach keeps children motivated and engaged, and fuels their curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.
Taking the lead of the children, staff help guide them in academic learning and other opportunities of interest, such as apprenticeships in the community.
As we continue to grow, we are building partnerships across the city to expand what we can offer. For example, we recently built a partnership with UNICEF that will provide an opportunity for young people to receive training and seed grants to develop entrepreneurship skills — and 15 children are participating to date.
